10 Products That Help My Pale, Sun-Damaged, Combination Skin Look Good Every Day
Investing in a comprehensive skincare routine is both relatable and incredibly niche. While we all want our skin to look good (glowy, clear, even, and plump), the means with which we get there is entirely different. My skin, while mostly unproblematic does have some built-in stipulations: it’s combination (meaning I don’t break out that often but have consistent congestion along my nose and chin), damaged from years of sun-worshipping, and very fair. So, my chosen products have to reflect that.
After years of honing in on exactly what I want from a product and how best to find a formula that works for me, I’ve come up with an arsenal of offerings that keep everything in tip-top shape. From an essential oil-infused cleanser and serums that nix discoloration, add moisture, and brighten to an anti-inflammatory, anti-aging moisturizer and skin-smoothing, pH balancing toner, find the products that make my skin look good every day. And, if your skin is like mine, they’ll help you too.
I’ve been hopelessly devoted to Eve Lom’s cleansing balm since my very first time using it. I keep samples of it around in every drawer and bag I come into contact with. The formula helps improve circulation, open your pores, cleanse, exfoliate, and tone your skin all in the amount of time it takes to massage it into your face. The blend of essential oils—chamomile, eucalyptus, and clove—work to melt away dirt, oil, debris, and makeup all the while smelling like a spa. It’s perfectly gentle in that it won’t disrupt the balance of your skin’s moisture barrier, but effective enough that’ll it’ll melt makeup right off, no problem. I apply it dry and massage it into my face, breaking up any tough mascara, foundation, or environmental grossness (pollution, what have you). As much as I love the balm, Eve Lom’s muslin cloths take a close second. And, they’re probably not the first product you’d expect as a blackhead-clearing treatment. I wash my face using them each morning and night—first applying the cleansing balm to dry skin, working it in, and removing with the steamy cloth to really get everything off. The texture of the cloths, though, is where the magic lies. They’re not fluffy or entirely soft, just structured enough to do a gentle exfoliation as I wash. I’ve noticed a significant reduction in the number and size of my blackheads as a result. And it feels so good. It’s a miracle. After cleansing, I move to toner, specifically Biologique Recherche’s Lotion P50 1970 ($65). I first had the tingly, vinegar-scented formula applied to my face during a facial by Toska Husted herself at Toska European Spa, where its dark spot–erasing, pore-shrinking, and complexion-balancing results left my jaw dragging along the treatment room floor. The ingredients are a mix of a few of the usuals: lactic acid, salicylic acid, and citric acid blended together with a selection of other, more eyebrow-raising components like onion extract, horseradish, sulfur, and vinegar (which certainly explain the smell). Immediately after drenching a cotton pad with the bottle’s contents and swiping it carefully over my face (twice a day, as suggested by Husted), I feel a flush of tingling. It’s a sensation that doesn’t hurt or feel uncomfortable, but instead, it feels rather satisfying and exciting in that “I can tell this is working” kind of way. It’s the one product that has made the biggest difference in my skin and I’m sticking by it until the end. In the morning, I follow up with Skinceuticals CE Ferulic, a beloved formula recommended by just about every dermatologist and beauty editor under the sun. “One of the main reasons we age is because unstable electrons in molecules (called free radicals) attack healthy cells and change their composition,” esthetician Renée Rouleau once told me, and it stuck. That’s why using a vitamin C serum is vital. On its own, the combination of ferulic acid and pure vitamin C and E enhances my skin’s protection against environmental damage caused by free radicals, improves signs of aging and photodamage, reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and brightens my complexion each time I use it. Together with P50, the duo is a skincare powerhouse I can’t believe I ever lived without. Because I have combination skin, I need to work hard at exfoliation as well as maintaining moisture. So, I always layer on a hyaluronic acid serum to seal everything in and add some much needed hydration and slip to my skin. SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel ($82), is a lightweight hyaluronic acid serum meant to restore and bind moisture to your skin for enhanced radiance, suppleness, and comfort. It adds the extra moisture I need (without being too much) right before applying my next step. Because of my years spent roasting in the sun (shameful, I know), I use this serum at night to better help diminish the appearance of dark spots and discoloration on my face. It’s a blend of kojic and tranexamic acids, as well as vitamin B3, to boost your skin’s brightness while it minimizes the recurrence of hyper-pigmentation. After listening to Shani Darden’s interview on the Second Life podcast, I decided to bite the bullet and try her newest product. I’ve never been a huge fan of retinol, but this one is different. Texture Reform is a gentler retinol serum, formulated with retinyl palmitate, which makes it so it does not cause the peeling, dryness, and irritation that other retinol serums may cause. It also has sodium PCA to help skin hold on to moisture, lactic acid to gently exfoliate, and aloe to soothe. It very literally has safety mechanisms in place to combat the irritation that typically accommodates retinol—and it makes your skin so clear, bright, and smooth. I use it every other night, alternating with Discoloration Defense. Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Face Cream Rich is my most treasured moisturizer—and the one I use most often to keep my skin as line-less and hydrated as possible. Sturm herself calls it “your cell spa while you sleep,” as it is so intensely regenerating. The cream incorporates purslane (a succulent herb packed with omega-3 fatty acids) to reduce redness and skullcap extract to stimulate natural collagen production. No lie: Using this moisturizer results in more youthful-looking, healthy skin come morning. I started using this particular sunscreen Consumer Reports did its Annual Sunscreen Guide, and La Roche Posay was the only sunscreen to recieve a perfect score of 100% (for the fourth year in a row, actually). It contains avobenzone, a chemical active ingredient which the researchers have found to be more successful at blocking harmful rays than mineral sunscreens containing ingredients like titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. I like to slather it on if I’m not planning on wearing makeup that day—it doesn’t disrupt your makeup but it doesn’t exactly help either. What it does do is protect my skin from the sun and that’s really what I care about most. When I am planning to wear makeup, I use Tatcha’s Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 35 ($65) because it works just like a primer—no chalky finish, smooths your skin’s texture, and even tighten the look of pores. Plus, it’s super silky, mattifying, and offers an SPF of 35. FYI: This is the anti-foundation I keep getting compliments on .
Natural Beauty Tips for Women You’ve Probably Never Tried (But Should!)
Share Beauty is more than just the way we look. It’s also about who we are. Keep reading to discover my collection of natural beauty tips that cover not only the physical aspects of ourselves, but also delve into how to be beautiful as we interact with others. How To Be Beautiful Inside & Out Tips to Make Inner Beauty Shine Beauty isn’t just skin deep. Beauty also comes from the inside. It’s your heart, your compassion, the help you offer your community. It’s lifting one another up or offering a simple kindness. With all the hate and violence currently taking place in the United States, I think it’s more important than ever to let your inner beauty shine through. That’s why, my first beauty tip for women is to lift other women up. Recently I attended a local event in which some of the women attending did just that. I was in the women’s restroom (where it’s impossible not to end up when wine is involved) surrounded by a group of women somewhat older than myself. So, I asked, “How do you handle aging? Your body is changing constantly. Your hormones are out of control. And exactly why does no one prepare your for perimenopause like they do for puberty during adolescence?” They laughed. They also acknowledged that I was right. And they not only gave me the best advice, they made me feel included in my discovery of the ever so mysterious circumstances of aging. This brings me to my second (of many) natural beauty tips. Because those women’s advice was to, no matter what, be confident. Because confidence is beautiful. Own your life, your body and everything about yourself. Take all the wonderful things about you and let them shine. Then use your confidence to speak up others, stand up for the underdog and to be kind to others. Natural Beauty Tips for Skin, Hair & Health Taking time out to care for your skin, hair and health not only helps you look better, it’s also a wonderful way to practice self care . Following of some of my own favorite natural beauty tips as well a few tips from several of my favorite fellow bloggers. Tackle your adult acne with these natural beauty tips. Adult acne can be a beast. And it’s not always easy to control. With hormones that are constantly changing throughout our lifetime, preventing acne can be a struggle. Before you see a dermatologist however – or decide to throw in the towel – I recommend trying probiotics. I know I’ve mentioned probiotics a lot lately, but it’s because they really do work! I take Lovebug’s Here’s the Skinny Daily Probiotic . It’s not only cleared up my skin, it also has significantly diminished hormone breakouts from perimenopause. This is the only brand of probiotics I take now. Unfortunately, even if you do everything right, you can still end up with an acne break out. Stress, hormones – even sneaking in that junk food! – can lead to those occasional volcanic facial eruptions. I’ve found that organic neem oil works wonders at pulling whiteheads to the surface of those painful red bumps literally overnight. In addition, retinol is also another great acne treatment to help keep your skin clear. This retinol serum from Kate Blanc Cosmetics is specially formulated with hyaluronic acid and jojoba oil to fight both aging and acne. Bacuri butter works great too! Or give one of these natural acne remedies a try. Of course, getting rid of acne isn’t the only blemish you have to contend with. When I get desperate to clear up that horrid giant pimple that won’t pop, sometimes I over treat it. Then I have a blob of dry skin or a scab left in its place which looks as bad as, if not worse than, the pimple did. Luckily my Allure beauty box arrived in the knick of time with a free sample of Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment . It quickly gets rid of the dry skin around those zits that didn’t want to heal. So you can spend less time picking your face and more time amazed by how great your skin looks. Oral care natural beauty tips. While not all of us have dental insurance, or can afford regular cleanings, there steps that you can take to help keep both your teeth and gums healthy. After all, who doesn’t want a beautiful smile? One of the easiest things you can do to promote oral health is to floss. Flossing your teeth everyday helps to prevent your gum line from receding. Something that is a concern for all of us as we age. Brushing your teeth too hard can also lead to a receding gum line. However, something as simple as switching to an electric toothbrush can help if you’re guilty of being a bit overzealous when your brush. My boyfriend’s dentist recently advised that he he was brushing too hard which was causing his gum line to recede. So Greg bought us both Oral B electric toothbrushes like this one , which his dentist indicated could help remedy the problem. In addition to daily flossing and brushing, I also switched to a fluoride free toothpaste. Studies have shown that excess consumption of fluoride can lead to brittle bone disease. As my local water is fluoridated, reducing my fluoride intake is even more important to me as I age. Women especially are at risk of losing bone density and strength after menopause. Therefore, in addition to taking supplements of vitamin D3 daily, I also filter my drinking water through my Brita pitcher . I’ve also switched to a fluoride free toothpaste. I’ve used every kind of name brand toothpaste at some point. None of the big toothpaste brands, however, have worked as well as Jason Powersmile Whitening Paste . This natural toothpaste is fluoride free, SLS free and gluten free. I have sensitive teeth. However, I’ve had zero problems with sensitivity after switching to this toothpaste. Additionally, the plaque that likes to collect on my bottom teeth (both between teeth and along the gum line) has completely disappeared since using this toothpaste. My teeth literally look “dentist clean.” (And this was before the electric toothbrushes made their way into our bathroom.) Natural beauty tips for hair care. There’s nothing like a bad hair day to make a bad day even more stressful. Fighting with your hair can be the worst. But no one wants to get stuck putting one’s hair in a ponytail just to be done with it. The texture and condition of my hair has changed a LOT since turning forty. Not only do I have stray gray hairs popping up here and there, my hair is also drier and more coarse than it was earlier in my life. Having grown up in the 80s, I did a lot of damage to my hair. From Sun In products, to straight up bleaching and crazy curly perms, I put my hair through some chaos. My hair’s been every color from a horrible brassy blonde to blue, black and pink. Once I finally grew my hair out in my late twenties, I vowed to never put it through that kind of abuse again. Instead, I’ve started applying henna every few months. Made from completely natural plant botanicals, henna doesn’t JUST color hair. It also conditions your hair, adds shine and gives hair extra volume. Henna lasts about three months. And it naturally fades out of your hair. So unlike chemical hair color, it doesn’t leave obvious roots. It’s also a much healthier hair color alternative. I always know when it’s time to apply more henna because my hair becomes difficult to manage at that point. Not only does henna do a great job at conditioning my hair, I also love that it hides the few grays I have sneaking in. It works great for hair that’s less than 10% gray. However, if you have more than 10% gray you have to use a 2-step process for the color to hold. Light Mountain Natural Hair Color and Conditioner , which is the brand available at my local co-op, also offers henna hair color products that work for gray hair in addition to their regular henna hair color. And it’s not just available in red. You can also purchase various shades of brown, auburn and black. If henna sounds amazing, but you don’t want to add color, you can also purchase neutral henna hair coloring . This product offers all the benefits of henna without a noticeable color deposit. However, it’s not recommended for light hair. Alternately, you can also purchase Organic Zizyphus Spina Christi . This botanical hair care product conditions hair in a way similar to henna but without depositing ANY color, even on white hair. Like henna, you’ll find that this herbal conditioner provides body, aids with detangling and also conditions your scalp. For hair that needs extra conditioning, I highly recommend HennaSooq’s Henna Gloss Bar , which I’ve used in the past with wonderful results. Before you try henna, you’ll need to be sure you haven’t processed your hair with chemical hair coloring or a perm in the past three months. Also be aware, that the processing time is somewhat consuming. While I’ve found I can easily use henna hair coloring at home without extra hands, processing time ranges from two to four hours depending on the depth of color you are looking for. Additionally, it will give your hair an herbal smell similar to spinach for several days afterward. My favorite place to purchase henna is from Night Blooming on Etsy . She sells not only henna coloring and conditioner, but also essential oil blends, hair oils and rinses and other related natural hair care products. Or try moringa oil for a fabulous one-ingredient hot oil hair treatment. Natural beauty tips to promote skin health and combat dry skin. If you suffer from dry skin or eczema, then these natural beauty tips (and recipes!) will be perfect for you. A few years back I struggled with several bouts of extremely dry skin and patches of eczema. Lotion and body butters helped initially, but then they would make my skin extra itchy. They also never really solved my dilemma. No matter how much lotion I used, at the end of the day, my skin was still dry and its condition never actually improved. Rather, the products I was using to treat my dry skin were only temporarily masking the issue. I finally stumbled onto the perfect, natural dry skin remedy – hemp seed oil . Hemp seed oil is an exceptionally rich oil high in essential omega fatty acids and proteins. Produced from the oil of cold pressed seeds of the hemp plant, hemp seed oil provides the four essential fatty acids beneficial to the skin. (Linoleic acid, alpha-linoleic acid, gamma linolenic acid and stearidonic acid.) In fact, hemp seed oil has one of the highest contents of essential fatty acid contents topping out at 76%! This non-greasy carrier oil absorbs quickly and easily when applied to skin without clogging pores. Its natural anti-inflammatory properties make it especially beneficial for irritated or eczema prone skin. My DIY dry skin body oil recipe with hemp seed oil , that I created a few years back, ended up being one of the best natural remedies I’ve tried to date. Refrigeration, however, is recommended for hemp seed oil as it has a short shelf life. Therefore, when using this oil to make your own natural dry skin care products, you may want to consider adding an antioxidant to extend the shelf life. Alternately, you can also try using hemp seed butter in its stead. Unlike hemp seed oil, hemp seed butter is shelf stable and has an extended shelf life of two years. It’s wonderfully moisturizing and is particularly beneficial for dry or damaged skin, eczema, psoriasis and mastalgia. Hemp seed butter is produced using the fatty fractions and unsaponifiables which are collected during the refining process and are then blended with hydrogenated vegetable oil to produce a butter-like material suitable for use on skin and hair. Discover a collection of natural moisturizer recipes for your dry skin at Soap Deli News here . If making your own natural skin care products isn’t for you, then I highly recommend the natural skin care and beauty products from Diamond Hemp . All of the products available from Diamond Hemp are made in the USA using natural cold pressed hemp seed oil. They carry a full line of hemp care bath and body products that includes body butters, body scrubs, facial masks, facial serums and anti-aging creams. Their Diamond Aloha antioxidant cream is made with organic antioxidants and pure hemp oil to help maintain a healthy youthful glow while fighting the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also contains neem oil, which I previously mentioned to help fight acne, as well as willow bark extract which contains anti-inflammatory salicin which is similar to acne fighting salicylic acid. In addition to natural skin care products, you can also promote skin health with beauty tools. My friend and fellow blogger, Cari of Everything Pretty , recommends dry brushing as one of her top natural beauty tips to promote healthy skin. Not only does dry brushing exfoliate skin and help to increase circulation, it also may help reduce acne breakouts. Cari also likes dry brushing because it just feels good. The massaging motion is a simple and easy way to sneak extra self care into her busy schedule and it gives her a boost of energy. You can check out all of Cari’s tips and benefits of dry brushing on her blog . Natural beauty tips for face mask lovers. If you love face masks then you’ve got to try these natural beauty tips from A Life Adjacent and Country Hill Cottage! Kim use caffeine as part of their morning skin care routine. By adding instant coffee and matcha powder to their face masks, they’ve found it works wonders at combating puffiness and bloating. This can sometimes happen when they overindulge on carbs. However, you may experience this if you had a bit too much to drink the night before. You can find the caffeine face mask recipe that Kim and Kyla use here . Not only does if fight that stubborn water retention, it’s made with natural ingredients you can find in your kitchen. (Or try this Awake Facial Mask from Wicked Soaps on Etsy !) They also suggest using raw honey as a morning facial wash when your skin doesn’t feel dirty enough to use a real cleanser. Not only does it gently cleanse facial skin, it won’t dry it out like soap and other cleansers can. This is especially helpful when the air is cold and dry during the winter months. Sisters Irena and Cyna of Country Hill Cottage , on the other hand, turn to papaya to revitalize dull and dry skin. Papayas are, of course, wonderful for your health both inside and out! These fruits are rich in vitamins A and C, a powerful antioxidant, and many minerals, such as calcium, iron, phosphorus, copper and potassium. They also contain the enzyme papain, which is fabulous for skin. This gentle exfoliant helps unclog pores and restore skin’s elasticity. To get glowing skin for your face, you can prepare their quick and easy papaya face mask! Simply mash 1/2 fresh papaya (without seeds) and combine with 1 tsp honey and 1 tsp olive oil. Apply the mask to your face, then leave on for 10 to 15 minutes. Then remove and rinse your face. Pat dry for brighter, glowing skin. Natural beauty tips for health and wellness. You can also promote beautiful, healthy looking skin from the inside out. Kim and Kyla both add collagen powder to their morning coffee for better skin and hair. They love that it makes their coffee extra creamy. Not being able to taste it in the coffee is another big plus. (Especially for those of us who are picky about things like butter coffee and avocado toast.) Or you can also try collagen in this healthy Collagen Hot Cocoa Mix from Ginger Berry Organics . A Sephora VIB Sale Strategy (and a Skin Care Haul)
A Sephora VIB Sale Strategy (and a Skin Care Haul) November 13th, 2018 by Karen 15 Comments New from Kate Somerville
I have revised my plan of attack for the Sephora VIB sale, because, let’s get real…only a few of the items I want are things I can’t function without (I’m talking to you, Kate Somerville Anti-Bac Clearing Lotion ). Most of the things are things I only want because they’re on sale… I’m 100% my mother’s daughter that way (“It’s on sale? BUY IT. Don’t you ever pay full price, ever!”).
But really, how much do I actually need another bronzer, all-matte neutral palette or another coral lipstick?
Not much! LOL. But I still want them all, especially with new makeup coming out every five seconds, so I gotta check myself before I wreck myself… How do I weed out unnecessary or spur-of-the moment purchases?
On the very first day of the sale, I put everything I want to buy into my cart, and then I wait… And wait. And wait. I let it all simmer there, brewing and stewing (and taunting me?). Then, j st before the sale ends, I’ll see what’s left in my cart, and most of the time when I do this, there are things that have sold out, which whittles the list down, and from there I reevaluate what’s left and see what fits into my budget.
This tactic reduces the likelihood of me getting a whole bunch of things I mostly only want because they’re on sale. ‘Twas a skin care haul (regular prices shown) Um…but K-Dawg, does this actually work?
Dude, it totally does! Forcing myself to wait and really think about my cart and the grand total $ staring back at me helps…because I know who I am, and I’m a spur-of-the-moment shopper.
Waiting also forces me to look around at what I already have in my stash.
For this last sale, I knew I needed another bottle of Kate Somerville Anti-Bac, sunscreen/face moisturizer for winter (ugh, dry skin), an eye cream and some chemical exfoliators for mature skin, because every morning lately when I wake up and look in the mirror, instead of seeing my face, I see freakin’ Gollum’s!
What my heart was telling me I wanted, though, was a bunch of makeup — a Charlotte Tilbury palette , Shiseido eyeliners and eyeshadows (they recently revamped their entire makeup line, and it’s supposed to be REALLY good), some Charlotte Tilbury blushes and bronzers , and a Dior foundation .
OK, and maybe a few other things were in there too, ha ha ha. You know me too well! Step 1: Shopping my own stash
The Charlotte Tilbury palette ended up being sold out, but everything worked out because I rediscovered my BECCA Chrissy Palette , which more or less serves the same purpose. I’m a little sad panda, 🙁 but if the CT palette is still around for the next VIB sale and I’m still lusting after it, I’ll get it then. Hello, old friend…
As for skin care, after digging through my drawers and makeup bins at home, I found some Kate Somerville samples I’ve been meaning to test but haven’t gotten around to (see pic at the top), including a firming and brightening retinol and vitamin C serum (which I’m VERY excited about because I LOVE me some vitamin C), a hyaluronic acid essence and a moisturizing cleanser .
I also found a lost gift card to a local spa that I received last Christmas, which I’m going to use to get another exfoliator/brightening product, Skinceuticals C+E Ferulic .
The things you find when you actually look through your drawers! Step 2: Whittling down the final cart
Ultimately, I ended up getting exactly what I needed to stick to my budget: Clinique Superdefense Moisturizer SPF 20 Age Defense Very Dry to Dry Combination (used it before and like it for dry winter skin) Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream (new to me, but Clinique moisturizers usually agree with me, and I like the price point.) Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream (several friends raved and recommended this.) Shiseido Facial Cotton (THE STUFF, and everything else in comparison feels like sandpaper.)
I’m a little bummed that I did pick up any color products, for sure, but I’m also excited about trying some new skin care…and hopefully not looking like Gollum first thing in the morning, ha ha! Did you end up getting anything from the sale?
Oh, and if you got that CT palette, please note that I will have to vicariously live through you.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Dr. Morita Sheet Masks for Any Skin Type
Dr. Morita Sheet Masks for Any Skin Type Posted on by Samut Sari • 0 Comments
Hyaluronic sheet masks are in trend these days because of the amazing skincare benefits. One of those with rave reviews – Dr. Morita sheet masks . Popular and hailed as the no. 1 best-selling sheet masks in Taiwan and Hong Kong, you can now enjoy a moisturized skin when you get your hands on these masks!
This skin care brand was established in Taiwan in 1934. The Morita Department Store was a retail operation that specialized in skin care products. After many years of skin care research and development, Dr. Morita took product development further by setting up a research center in Japan. Dr. Morita sheet masks with premium ingredients were developed in this facility in the year 2000, more than a decade before sheet masks were considered trendy!
Today, Dr. Morita is one brand under the umbrella of Dr. Jou Biotech headquartered in Taiwan. It has offices in Japan, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, with products available in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, and now, the Philippines! Partnering with Gentro International Products, Inc., Dr. Morita sheet masks are now widely accessible locally via Watsons and SM Beauty branches.
There are six (6) variants to enjoy:
Award-winning and best-selling, Dr. Morita Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask ensures lasting moisture is delivered to the skin with Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen imported from Japan. Apart from hydrating the skin with three different sizes of Hyaluronic Acid molecules, it also soothes and promotes skin repair with Cucumber Extract, Marine Collagen, Ceramide, and Niacinamide. This makes a great anti-aging option for all skin types, including those with sensitive skin.
Dr. Morita Intense Hydrating Serum Facial Mask sustains long-lasting skin moisturization afforded by Japanese Hyaluronic Acid and Amino Acids. Hydration is delivered efficiently to the different layers of the skin thanks to large, medium, and small Hyaluronic Acid molecules. This makes sure even dry skin types get the moisture it needs for a longer time. It also contains skin-caring Niacinamide, Allantoin, Squalane, and Ceramides.
Get multiple skin care benefits with Dr. Morita Triple Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Essence Facial Mask . Its large, medium, and small Hyaluronic Acid molecules deliver lasting hydration to all layers of the skin. It’s also a great anti-aging and brightening treat for your skin. Among its 11 Amino Acids are Arginine, which brightens skin by repairing visible skin damage, and Glycine and Proline which help smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
Dr. Morita Whitening & Moisturizing Essence Facial Mask makes it possible to whiten your skin without drying it out! Hydrating Japanese Hyaluronic Acid combines with Mandelic Acid from Merck Germany, one of the leading pharmaceutical groups in worldwide. Mandelic Acid is one of the gentler Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s) around, making it a great option for easily sensitized skin. This also contains various plant, flower, and root extracts to soothe, hydrate, and brighten skin.
Looking for something new? Try Dr. Morita Platinum Colloid & Hematite Extraction Whitening Black Facial Mask . Japanese Tranexamic Acid and multiple herb extracts whiten while Hyaluronic Acid gives deep hydration. Treat your skin to Iron-rich Hematite and Obsidian Extracts, known to have toning, regenerating, and strengthening properties. Antioxidant-rich Platinum Colloid helps your skin fight aging.
Give your face a luxury treatment with Dr. Morita Platinum Colloid & Black Pearl Extraction Moisturizing & Whitening Black Facial Mask . Hyaluronic Acid hydrates while Platinum Colloid’s antioxidant content prevents skin from premature aging. Black Pearl Extract has been part of ancient Chinese medicine and skin care for good reason: calcium-rich pearl powder has been known to help detoxify, promote cell renewal, and enhance skin elasticity. Care for your skin while getting whitening benefits from Tranexamic Acid and multiple herb extracts.
Proper Usage and Pro Tips: Cleanse your face. Apply mask on the face and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Remove and gently massage around the face area for the essence to be fully absorbed by the skin. No need to rinse off. Chun Hsu Jou , third generation of the brand’s founding family shares that their sheet masks already have toner, lotion, and serum. Those with dry skin may apply moisturizing serum or cream, if so desired. Hurray for one-step skin care! Jou also recommends using Dr. Morita sheet masks before going to bed for revitalized skin in the morning. Don’t let the excess leftover essence in the sheet mask package go to waste. Use it on your face and neck the next morning or night. Don’t leave sheet masks on for more than the recommended time, as it will result in “reverse osmosis,” leaving your skin drier than the ideal. Going on a trip? Sheet masks are a great travel-friendly skin care option! Consider using a sheet mask daily for better results.

Dr. Morita sheet masks are now available at Watsons and SM Beauty for only P74.00 each. Dr. Morita products are distributed locally by Gentro International Products, Inc.
12 Skin Care Products With an Extraordinary Number of Amazon Reviews

* These skin care products have thousands of reviews on Amazon
* List includes eye creams, moisturizers, beard balm and more
* Complete your skin care routine with these well-reviewed products
Reviews are becoming an ever-increasing part of the buying process. You likely read dozens before purchasing even the most menial of products, and if you’re similar to thousands of Amazon customers, you might return to the retail page to leave your own review later.
These public opinions can really make or break a product. A dozen bad reviews might mean the item never graces Amazon’s shelves again, but good reviews really work to cement a product’s popularity.
Certainly, if a skin care product has more than a thousand positive reviews, it means the general populace sees the effectiveness of that cream, oil or shampoo. If you’re looking to fill in the gaps of your skin care routine, consider these 12 products, which all enjoy thousands of positive reviews on Amazon.

Kiehl’s Moisturizer Reviews
You know how one of the main foundations of health is to drink the recommended amount of water? The same way you would hydrate your body is how you should hydrate your skin. Ensuring that your skin is getting the moisture it needs day in and day out is one of the main tenets of skin care. Moisturizing allows your skin to not only remain soft but to help keep dryness at bay. However, finding the moisturizer that best fits your skin can be more of a process than you would originally expect.
Fortunately, the range of Kiehl’s moisturizers makes it a lot easier; the brand has a whole array of moisturizers to choose from . The team at Kiehl’s sent the Skincare.com team a complimentary sample of their moisturizing products, and we’re sharing our reviews ahead. Check them all out below, and see which moisturizer is right for you.
FOR NORMAL TO DRY SKIN: KIEHL’S ULTRA FACIAL CREAM
Even the supplest skin can fall prey to seasonal dryness. This Kiehl’s moisturizer can get you through those dry spells. The long-lasting, lightweight formula contains glacial glycoproteins and extract from the desert-hailing plant, imperata cylindrica, and can help skin retain water and ensure it is well-protected from the cold. Plus, it contains broad-spectrum SPF 30 to add another layer of protection. Just because the sun isn’t as strong during the winter doesn’t mean those UV rays can’t harm your skin.
My Thoughts: Living in the northeast can absolutely wreak havoc on my skin. When my forehead begins to flake by the end of fall, I pretty much use it as a barometer for how close the cold weather is to approaching. The Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, however, keeps my skin looking plumped with moisture and well-protected against the bitter cold.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream , $29.50 MSRP
FOR DRY TO VERY DRY SKIN: KIEHL’S ULTRA FACIAL DEEP MOISTURE BALM Okay, so maybe you have skin that’s dryer than most , no matter what time of year it is. Well turn that frown upside-down, because Kiehl’s has you covered! Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm will get your skin hydrated in no time. The formula melts into skin, leaving it feeling soft, smooth, and comfortable even in dry climates.
My Thoughts: Even though my overall skin doesn’t get too, too dry, there are some areas ( like the area around my eyes ) that does. The Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm helped my skin feel rich in hydration, as well as soft and smooth.

The Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel-Cream checks a lot (if not all) of boxes when it comes to compatibility with oily skin. Oil-free? Check. Non-greasy? Check. Intense hydrator and skin conditioner? Check and check! It’s also specifically formulated for normal to oily skin, making it a cream you can trust to retain moisture without exacerbating it.
My Thoughts: There’s nothing like a gel formula to get your skin feeling fresh. This gel-cream does just that. My skin fully absorbed it with no unwanted residue.

FOR ENLARGED PORES: KIEHL’S RARE EARTH PORE MINIMIZING LOTION Your skin doesn’t just have to be dry or oily. For some, pores can actually look slightly bigger than average. Kiehl’s created the following moisturizer keeping this particular issue in mind.
Although it’s been used as a skin remedy for thousands of years (seriously), clay is having a major comeback in skin care. The Kiehl’s Rare Earth Pore Minimizing Lotion is formulated with Amazonian white clay to refine pores. It also helps to absorb any excess oil lingering on your skin.
My Thoughts: I’m a huge fan of any of the Kiehl’s Rare Earth products, and the Kiehl’s Rare Earth Pore Minimizing Lotion is no different. My skin felt incredibly clean after using it.

FOR FINE LINES & WRINKLES: Kiehl’s Powerful Wrinkle Reducing Cream One trick of the skin care trade is to always be a step ahead. That’s why anti-aging efforts should begin early and be kept in the back of your head as you shop for products to incorporate into your regimen. And what better place to start than with a moisturizer? The Kiehl’s Powerful Wrinkle Reducing Cream contains copper and calcium. Working together, this formula can visibly repair wrinkles and refine the skin’s texture.
My Thoughts: I may be in my mid-twenties, but that’s no excuse not to begin the good fight against wrinkles now. This cream went onto my skin smoothly and I look forward to noticing a decreased appearance of fine lines on my forehead with continued use.

FOR DEHYDRATED SKIN: Kiehl’s Rosa Arctica Cream
Another batting moisturizer in the anti-aging lineup, the Kiehl’s Rosa Artica is a youth-regenerating cream formulated with the haberlea rhodopensis, also known as the “Resurrection Flower.” The flower itself has the extraordinary ability to survive over two years of dehydration, returning to life within hours as soon as that moisture returns.
My Thoughts: My skin was probably the most hydrated it has ever felt using this cream. I could practically feel it bringing moisture back into my skin’s surface cells as I used it. My skin was absolutely recharged and felt wonderful.
