In this day and age, there’s no reason to look old because of the numerous advancements in the beauty market. We’re not saying you should go under the knife (we haven’t done that, either) but rather to make the most of the beauty products that have undergone thorough and careful research to defy aging.
In this article, we’ll vouch for one of them: Dr. Morita sheet masks which was introduced in the Philippines only recently. It’s a Taiwanese brand which was developed in a skin care center in Japan as early as the year 2000, long before sheet masks were considered trendy. Now, Dr. Morita has gained numerous awards and citations. It is available in Watsons and SM Beauty for only P74 per mask.
Here’s a look at the different Dr. Morita variants with a short description of what suits your skin best:
Dr. Morita Hyaluronic Acid Essence Mask is the bestseller and most recommended, especially for the matured buyers. It ensures lasting moisture with Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen imported from Japan. It also soothes and promotes skin repair with Cucumber Extract, Marine Collagen, Ceramide, and Niacinamide. This makes a great anti-aging option for all skin types, including those with sensitive skin.
Dr. Morita Intense Hydrating Serum Facial Mask sustains long-lasting skin moisturization afforded by Japanese Hyaluronic Acid and Amino Acids. Hydration is delivered efficiently to the different layers of the skin thanks to large, medium, and small Hyaluronic Acid molecules. This makes sure even dry skin types get the moisture it needs for a longer time. It also contains skin-caring Niacinamide, Allantoin, Squalane, and Ceramides.
Dr. Morita Triple Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Essence Facial Mask has large, medium, and small Hyaluronic Acid molecules delivering lasting hydration to all layers of the skin. It’s also a great anti-aging and brightening treat for the skin. Among its 11 Amino Acids are Arginine, which brightens skin by repairing visible skin damage, and Glycine and Proline which help smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
Dr. Morita Whitening & Moisturizing Essence Facial Mask makes it possible to whiten your skin without drying it out! Hydrating Japanese Hyaluronic Acid combines with Mandelic Acid from Merck Germany, one of the leading pharmaceutical groups in worldwide. Mandelic Acid is one of the gentler Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s) around, making it a great option for easily sensitized skin. This also contains various plant, flower, and root extracts to soothe, hydrate, and brighten skin.
Looking for something new? Try Dr. Morita Platinum Colloid & Hematite Extraction Whitening Black Facial Mask . Japanese Tranexamic Acid and multiple herb extracts whiten while Hyaluronic Acid gives deep hydration. Treat your skin to Iron-rich Hematite and Obsidian Extracts, known to have toning, regenerating, and strengthening properties. Antioxidant-rich Platinum Colloid helps your skin fight aging.
Give your face a luxury treatment with Dr. Morita Platinum Colloid & Black Pearl Extraction Moisturizing & Whitening Black Facial Mask . Hyaluronic Acid hydrates while Platinum Colloid’s antioxidant content prevents skin from premature aging. Black Pearl Extract has been part of ancient Chinese medicine and skin care for good reason: calcium-rich pearl powder has been known to help detoxify, promote cell renewal, and enhance skin elasticity. Care for your skin while getting whitening benefits from Tranexamic Acid and multiple herb extracts.
Tips on how to use Dr. Morita Sheet Mask:
– Cleanse your face. Apply mask on the face and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Remove and gently massage around the face area for the essence to be fully absorbed by the skin. No need to rinse off.
– Dr. Chun Hsu Jou, third generation of the brand’s founding family shares that their sheet masks already have toner, lotion, and serum. Those with dry skin may apply moisturizing serum or cream, if so desired.
– Dr. Jou also recommends using Dr. Morita sheet masks before going to bed for revitalized skin in the morning.
– Don’t let the excess leftover essence in the sheet mask package go to waste. Use it on your face and neck the next morning or night.
– Don’t leave sheet masks on for more than the recommended time, as it will result in “reverse osmosis,” leaving your skin drier than the ideal.
– Going on a trip? Sheet masks are a great travel-friendly skin care option!

A Friday night out painting the town red after a long week of work is truly deserved, but not without some deep-seated reservations on your end.
Too much beer might go straight to your gut.
Too much liquor might lead to intoxication and a nasty hangover the morning after.
What does too much wine lead to?
Nothing really, if consumed in moderation! In fact, red wine brings about a host of benefits for your skin and body that has never been properly emphasized enough.
You can still make a night out of it, while you’re taking care of yourself. A win-win situation like that makes for a perfect Friday night, if I’ll say so myself.

What Makes Wine Fine?
Red wine is made from the pulp of red or black grapes subjected to fermentation along with the grape skins.
Grapes are known to be rich in their content of antioxidants which bring about health benefits. More on these health benefits as we go on.
Wine does come in varying levels of sugar content; thus it’d be more ideal to go with the dry wine coming in at the lowest amount of sugar per liter (4g/liter), compared to the medium dry(4-12g/liter) and sweet wines (45g/liter).
So, exactly what kind of greatness does a glass of redness bring?

As mentioned earlier, the grapes that make up red wine are chock full of beneficial antioxidants, and one particular one actually aids in our constant battle against the bulge.
Resveratrol is an antioxidant found in grapes that helps to convert the bad, weight-gaining fat into calorie-burning fat. This antioxidant enhances the oxidation of dietary fats and prevents the body from getting overloaded with the stubborn fats that try to stake their claim on our bodies.
A healthy dose of resveratrol therefore significantly lowers the likelihood of obesity and metabolic dysfunction.
Do note the mention of “healthy dose”… drinking two bottles of red wine in one sitting will not make you lose 20 pounds! Everything in moderation.

Age Like Fine Wine
This term does not come unwarranted. Although originally meant to highlight how wine tastes better the more aged it is, a glass of it actually carries anti-aging benefits.
Polyphenols, another type of antioxidant found in red wine aids in the prevention of cell oxidation, which is the main cause of skin aging.
Combined with the multi-purpose resveratrol, these two antioxidants work together to keep your skin firm and radiant with a healthy glow.
It is notable that resveratrol is once again another component that transcends its fat-fighting benefits. It also contributes to skin health as well.
In fact, the properties of resveratrol are so potent against anti-aging, they are being touted as the next big thing in the cosmetic industry.
Skin creams like the Golden Mulberry Renewal Moisturizer are becoming a hit with the masses, because of the anti-aging prowess of resveratrol and other organic ingredients in it.

Once again, resveratrol comes under the limelight here, as the consumption of red wine actually aids in the prevention and healing of acne.
The resveratrol in red wine slows down the growth of skin bacteria that causes breakouts. It also stunts the growth of keratinocytes, which may cause even more pronounced cases of acne lesions.
It has been observed that a glass of red wine, along with a topical treatment of benzoyl peroxide turned out to be particularly effective, with lengthened antibacterial effects on acne bacteria.

Shelter From The Sun
The sun can be very unforgiving towards our skin. Other than expediting the skin aging process with its harmful rays, we are more susceptible to skin damage by way of sunburn than we actually are aware of.
Sunburn can occur within 20 mins of sun exposure, but take as long as hours to show up. Rubbing red wine on affected areas can actually alleviate the discomfort that comes with sunburn.
If you find topical application of wine a little bit odd, have yourself half a glass of red, and slap on some Umbrella UV Protection Cream before you step out into the sunny inferno. Don’t give up on your sunscreen completely, of course!

Flair For Your Hair
One of the core qualities of drinking red wine is that it enhances blood circulation in the body. When there is efficient blood circulation to the scalp, hair-growth follicles thrive, and hair loss is thus reduced.
The resveratrol (yes, this guy again) in red wine is also believed to reduce inflammation and the formation of dead cells on the scalp, which helps to improve the density of your hair.
Some people have even gone to the extent of rinsing their hair with red wine to absorb its superior hair-friendly qualities.
Or… you could really just drink it actually – that should make haircare more enjoyable!

Case in point: the difference between serums, ampoules, emulsions, and essences. If you have no clue what an emulsion or an ampoule even are and are still not sure whether or not you need a serum or an essence, keep reading. We help to clear things up, below.
WHAT IS A SERUM?
In most skin care routines, serum is the step after cleansing, but before moisturizing . And, while these lightweight, concentrated formulas have consistency in common, the benefits vary. From serums formulated with antioxidants to layer under your sunscreen during the day to anti-aging serums to press into your skin before bedtime , serums may have a lightweight texture, but when it comes to skin care benefits they pack a major punch. Think of a serum as a sheer film that covers your face while it’s concentrated formula works to target your skin care concerns. Of course, while serums being lightweight and sheer is a nearly universal quality you can expect from them, beyond that they’re becoming more diverse. In addition to the thin gels you’ve likely used before, more watery serums—ones that require a dropper—are rising in popularity.
3 SERUMS FROM THE L’OREAL PORTFOLIO OF BRANDS Vichy LiftActiv Vitamin C Serum : Interested in giving one of the most popular types of serum a try? If that’s the case, look no further than a vitamin C serum. Formulated with pure vitamin C, vitamin E, an d hyaluronic a cid , this Vichy serum immediately leaves skin smoother and softer. With time, skin becomes brighter, feels tighter, and your complexion will look more even.
Lancôme Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Serum : When it comes to anti-aging, it’s safe to say you’ll want products with potent formulas. Hence why anti-aging serums are so widely adored. Enriched with active ingredients, this concentrate—a fan favorite from Lancôme—is formulated to boost visible signs of youthfulness and to help skin’s recovery during the day and night. From the very first drops, skin looks smoother and more luminous.
CeraVe Skin Renewing Cream Serum : While serums with an aqueous texture are becoming more common, they aren’t the only option out there. For something more reminiscent of a moisturizer, try a formula that brings together face creams and serums. CeraVe’s take, which contains encapsulated retinol, helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and restore radiant-looking skin.
WHAT IS AN EMULSION?
Lighter than a cream or lotion and thicker—and less concentrated—than a serum, an emulsion is like a watered-down, lightweight facial lotion. If you have dry skin, you may be wondering what the point is, but hold your judgement. Emulsions are often the perfect product for those with oily or combination skin, as their formulas can hydrate and moisturize the complexion and allow the skin to breathe at the same time. However, emulsions aren’t reserved for only certain skin types. If your skin needs more moisture, an emulsion can work for you too. In fact, emulsions are perfect for adding an extra layer of hydration to your routine—just use a face cream on top.
3 EMULSIONS FROM THE L’OREAL PORTFOLIO OF BRANDS Shu Uemura Tsuya Bouncy-Fine Emulsion : Have you ever added a product to your collection based on packaging alone? While there’s no shame in that, it won’t be the case for this lightweight emulsion. Still, it’s undeniable that the iridescent bottle is alluring and will add an excellent touch to your next shelfie.
Biotherm Life Plankton Sensitive Emulsion : Finding products that don’t irritate and upset sensitive skin is often nothing short of a challenge, especially if you’re searching for products in a category that isn’t nearly as saturated as “moisturizer” or “face wash.” Thankfully, sensitive skin types don’t have to worry about tracking down an emulsion that’s safe for their skin. This emulsion meant for sensitive skin soothes and hydrates.
SkinCeut icals Met ac ell Rene wal B3 : Emulsions can be an essential anti-aging step too. Formulated with niacinamide, this comprehensive daily emulsion helps to correct early symptoms of photoaging for a reclarified tone and retightened surface.
WHAT IS AN ESSENCE?
It used to be that essence was the lighter, less concentrated version of serum but, the roles have since reversed. Just like serums are changing and becoming lighter and more watery in texture, essences are changing and being made into creamy or gel-like formulas. No longer will you need to waste cotton pads sweeping liquid essences over your skin, you can simply plat on these slightly thicker formulas. Essence is considered to be the heart of the Korean skin care routine and is meant to be used after skin has been prepped through cleansing and using a hydrating facial toner.
3 ESSENCES FROM THE L’OREAL PORTFOLIO OF BRANDS Kiehl’s Iris Extract Activating Essence Treatment : A throwback to the once liquid-based essences, this essence is formulated with lipo hydroxy acid (LHA) and sodium hyaluronate and can smooth and hydrate the skin, promoting a brighter, more youthful-looking complexion.
Shu Ue mura Maxi: Hydrabilitiy Moisture Essen ce-in Ge l : If you’re ready to try an essence with a more modern texture, this Shu Uemura option, which has a gel consistency, is a prime pick. (There’s also a cream, if that’s your preference.)
Biotherm Life Plankton Essence : Want to be able to match your essence to your emulsion? No problem—pair the Biotherm Life Plankton Sensitive Emulsion with the Biotherm Life Plankton Essence.
WHAT IS AN AMPOULE?
It’s likely that you may have heard of serums before, but maybe less likely you’ve heard of ampoules. An ampoule is like a serum, except it typically has a higher concentration of one active ingredient. Ampoules are great ways to target specific skin concerns like dark spots, obvious signs of aging, or even dry skin. They can also be used in addition to anything else you put on your skin—a friendly skin care companion that gets along with anyone!
3 AMPOULES FROM K-BEAUTY BRANDS Soko Glam DW-EGF Derma Oneshot Ampoule : The Soko Glam DW-EGF Derma Oneshot Ampoule is a two-for-one deal. It’s formulated to address both wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.
Evening Island Pyunkang Yul Moisture Ampoule : Evening Island’s Pyunkang Yul Moisture Ampoule features only six ingredients, of which include Coptis Japonica Root Extract—an ancient Korean medicine.
Yuripibu Asiatica Calming Ampoule : This ampoule is formulated with centella asiatica (also known as tiger grass), and is recommended for irritated skin.
HOW TO INCORPORATE A SERUM, AMPOULES, EMULSION, AND ESSENCE INTO YOUR SKIN CARE ROUTINE Now that you know all about the differences between serums, emulsions, and essences (plus our product picks for each), you’re free to add them into your skin care routine. And you don’t have to play favorites, you can use them all—as long as you know when to apply them.
Here’s the deal: Out of the four, essences should be applied first, as they’re the thinnest. Apply your essence of choice directly after using a toner—or a cleanser, if you prefer to skip toner. Next, it’s time for your serum. That means an emulsion should come last in your routine. Should you want to give your skin an added boost, apply an ampoule to top everything off. In-between each of these steps, be sure to give the product a minute or two to sink in, then keep layering. And just in case, if you need any help remembering the order in which to apply, it’s almost always correct to start with the thinnest formula and work your way up.
Editor’s note: There’s no rule saying you have to use all three at the same time. You can also choose to split up your serum, ampoule, emulsion, and essence between your morning and night routines—it’s up to you.
Almond and Mayonnaise Scrub Olive Oil as my moisturizer **Just remember: When you’re giving yourself a facial to take your time and relax. I would even prepare everything in advance so that each step can be done one-after the other without the interruption of having to prepare the products in-between. Finally, to top everything off, cut a couple of slices of cucumbers and chill them in your fridge until you are ready to apply your mask. If you don’t have cucumbers, soak cotton balls in rose-water and place them in a bowl in your fridge. Then when you apply your mask, sit back, put the cucumber slices or cotton balls on your eyes and let the mask dry.**

Life changing. We all have those things about our appearance that stand out to us more than anything else. Things that most people don’t see. But to us, they are huge flaws that hurt our confidence. For me, that’s always been my acne scars and the overall texture of my skin.
As an ambassador for CosmetiCare, I’ve been lucky enough to try treatments to help improve my skin. I’ve had 3 microneedling treatments (see my microneedling before and after photos and the final results of my microneedling ). They helped so much but I just got to do a CO2 Laser Treatment for my face and I can already tell the results are going to be AMAZING! *As an ambassador for CosmetiCare , I am given complimentary treatments and I share the experience with my readers. All opinions, pain and amazing results are my own!
The photo above is after several of my microneedling treatments. While my skin looks great here (go see the before pictures if you haven’t seen them already), it’s still not as smooth as I want it to be. CosmetiCare suggested a laser skin resurfacing treatment and I was totally on board. Check out this post on exactly what a CO2 Laser Resurfacing treatment is.
To prepare for my laser peel , I had a consultation with Tannaz at CosmetiCare . She went over what to expect and how I should prepare for the procedure (stay out of the sun for 2 weeks, not wine or blood-thinning medicines for a few days beforehand) and what I should get to have ready during the healing process (gentle soaps and lotions as well as vitamin C).
The CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing Process To start my appointment, Tannaz took some before photos to show the texture of my skin. She pointed out the sun damage, which the laser will help to improve, as well as the areas she would focus on that had the most scarring.
Does a CO2 Laser Treatment Hurt? I have to admit, I was super nervous. 2 of my microneedling treatments hurt like crazy! The laser is a little more aggressive so Tannaz made sure that I would be comfortable. During our initial consultation, she prescribed something to relax me and a pain medication that would help during the procedure.
On the day of the treatment, I had my mom drive me to CosmetiCare . I arrived an hour before the lasering would begin so I could take the two prescriptions. Because the prescriptions are strong, I needed to make sure I had a driver to take me home after.
This might be skipping ahead a little bit, but thanks to the medicine, the procedure didn’t hurt at all. There were only a couple of times where I felt something that felt like a tiny pinprick. The hairline, upper lips, and eyes can be a little more sensitive. But it was totally tolerable. Dang, I’m grateful for that medicine!
After I took the medicine, Tannaz put numbing cream on my face. A half hour later she came back in to massage it in again. And finally, an hour later, we were ready to start!
Tannaz removed the numbing cream and cleansed my face to make sure all the grease and oils were off my skin.
What the Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment Looks Like I was given breast implants to act as a kind of stress ball in case I needed it which I thought was super funny. But I really didn’t need them. I can’t believe how fast the treatment was. I was also given a small handheld fan to keep pointed at my face to help cool myself down. The laser makes your face feel really hot. It’s only slightly uncomfortable.
The laser has a small head that creates a honeycomb shape made of smaller dots. The laser is basically stamped on the face. This is what it looks like! Isn’t that crazy! The whole process was so much easier and shorter than I thought it would be. The only part I didn’t like was the smell (burning flesh…) when she lasered right below my nose. But it lasted only a few seconds and the fan totally helped with that too. When my face was done, Tannaz wiped my face off…
Then she put on a recovery balm. While my face looks really red, there was no pain. It just felt hot.
Tannaz made sure I knew how to care for my face and gave me directions for the next 2 weeks.
Laser Facial Recovery Process Before I left CosmetiCare , I took this quick photo. I was expecting my face to look way worse than it did. I was pleasantly surprised. My mom drove me home and by the time we got there, my stomach was really upset. I think the medicine was really harsh on my stomach. But I am so glad that I had it. It made the whole process so easy! I just took a nap and felt better after that.
My face was really oozy the rest of the day. Gross. It was hard to sleep the first night because of all the Aquaphor on my face and I didn’t want it to stick to the towel I had on my pillow. I made sure to schedule this CO2 laser treatment at a time when I had 2 weeks where I wouldn’t need to leave the house.
Because there is a chance for infection with this type of laser treatment, I was also put on an antibiotic to help with any breakouts.
After Photos of my Laser Resurfacing Day 1: Waking up, my face was crusty. Ew. I took a shower and used a mild cleanser to clean my face. It stung a little bit but wasn’t too bad. When I got out, I added a thin layer of Aquaphor. My face felt hot all day but it wasn’t too bad. I never needed any pain medicine.
The instructions, for the next couple of days, were to wash 3 times a day and keep it covered in Aquaphor. Because of my sensitive skin, I was to try to work towards using Cetaphil lotion after a few days so the Aquaphor didn’t make my skin break out.
I didn’t want to edit these photos even though some of the lighting isn’t great. I wanted to make sure you could see what my skin looked like in terms of color.
Day 2: My face started to dry out and was itching like crazy! I had to take a Benadryl to make it stop. I also put on a little bit more Aquaphor to try to keep it hydrated. I think today is when the peeling started.
Day 3: It was still itching like crazy so I took Benadryl. Each time I had to take it I only took one pill and it never made me feel like I had to take a nap. I switched to using only Cetaphil instead of Aquaphor. That made everything a little bit easier. I could sleep better since I didn’t stick to my pillow. My face peeled a little more today but it mostly flaked off instead of big peels like you see with a sunburn. Day 4: The redness wasn’t that bad today. I think the peeling was mostly done. My skin was still rough but not itchy. Thank goodness! I stopped washing my face 3 times a day and went to 2. The recovery process of the laser treatment was SO much easier than I thought it would be! Day 5: Red, but that was it! I only had a few rough patches near my ears, but I just took a washcloth and gently rubbed my face. I’m still using the Cetaphil lotion twice a day to keep it moisturized. Tannaz said that would help with the healing.
Day 8: At day 7 Tannaz said I could start wearing makeup as long as it was mineral powder makeup. Since I made sure I wouldn’t have to leave the house, I’m not rushing to wear makeup and just letting my skin heal as much as possible. I can go back to my regular liquid foundation after 14 days, as long as I don’t keep it on for very long and wash my face at night.
I did buy mineral makeup so I could start leaving the house again (it’s hard to be home for 2 weeks, one was no problem) and started wearing that at Day 10.
I think I am already starting to see results! My skin looks way smoother so I don’t feel like I even need to wear that much makeup (aside from concealer for my dark circles ).
I finished the antibiotic after the first few days and made sure to keep my hands off my face as much as possible. She also had me take 1000 mg of Vitamin C a day to help with healing.
Per Tannaz, I need to continue to use the Cetaphil lotion, every day, to help with the healing. But I can start using my normal anti-aging skin care after 4 weeks.
Where to Get a Laser Treatment for the Face If you are interested in having a CO2 treatment , you should definitely check out CosmetiCare . I loved my experience with Tannaz! She’s an RN and has years of experience with the laser. I loved how she made sure I knew exactly what I needed or what to expect every step of the way. Plus she’s the sweetest girl ever!
Is a Laser Skin Resurfacing Worth It? It’s been 15 days since I had my treatment and I would say YES! I can see improvements already and final results will continue to happen over the next 4 weeks!
I’m beyond grateful to have been given the gift of this treatment by CosmetiCare. To have smoother skin has always been a dream and to see it happening is truly mind-blowing!
What I love about CosmetiCare is that not only do they make the Real Housewives of Orange County looks amazing (I’m a RH super fan) but they really listen to what you want. I never wanted to do any treatments that would be too much or make me look like I’ve had anything done. The treatments I’ve gotten have been very conservative and made me look like myself, only better.
